Following pictures shows what I found under the old anti fouling paint. I believe these are some minor glassfibre blisters that have been dried out. I'm about to treat them like it is recommended. Open all loose gelcoat surface, wash all opened spots with fresh water, let it dry and finally fill them with epoxy filler. These are very shallow and they are not extending to fibreglass almost at all. These are definitely not bad ones. Only bad thing here is that there is lots of them. They will need some work hours to get them done.
This is how the surface looks like right after anti fouling paint has been removed.
Here I have been digging loose gelcoat away. Not that much comes of and they are not that deep.
I opened those spots little more with an angle grinder. There will be lots of filling to do. Fortunately they are easy and quick to fill.
Close up of the grinded spot. Solid fibreglass was found right under the gelcoat. According to that these are only minor defects which is good.
Here is link to one good youtube video about fibreglass blistering. This guy explains it pretty well. Those in the video are much more severe than those found on my boat.

Scraping
Now I got actual work started. I started scraping off the anti fouling paint. Under the paint I discovered few minor patchings which seems to be quite solid although they were poorly sanded as I had to sand lots of material off to get them level.
Here is the boat resting firmly on the supports.
First pictures of the interior. Drivers place was already refurbished by previous owner. For that part I only have to oil the wooden part to make it ready. Teak like flooring showing in the picture is readily cut for all floor surfaces. It would look neat after all wood panels are made to look same way as the drivers place.
Here is the patching I found from the hull. It was reduced to 1/3 of size in the picture after sanding it level.
This one is giving me a hard time. The pump supposed to be seawater pump for freshwater cooling conversion. Only problem is that it wont fit in intended place. The pump should be mounted in place of that three bolt cover plate. The base plate of the pump is too small it has only two mounting holes in wrong places and shaft is too long. Simply put it is wrong pump for this engine. Also pentry pump and waste water pump are missing. Its quite frustrating as I was led to believe that everything is included to make all applications work. If I have to buy all of those three pumps it will make several hundreds of euros..

Boat arrives
Today boat was transferred to the garage. Door opening turned out to be too small although height is about 5 meter. Crane with the boat just didn't fit in.. We had to leave it outside to wait until I will arrange some trailer which I can use to drive this under 10 meter distance and push it in the garage. It feels little bit frustrating to pay 100 euros to rent a trailer for such a small job. I have to look for options if I can get that trailer cheaper somewhere.
Boat support that I made are really up to the job.
Here is the engine, Bukh DV36. It should be very reliable marine diesel. I hope that the boat will run with very good fuel economy with this engine.
I bought Hyundai pneumatic orbital sander for this project today. I dont know if it is any good. There is not that much discussion about Hyundai power tools on the Internet. At least I know that they make decent compressors and aggregates. They have also vastly improved their motor company during the years. I can alway take it back to the shop and have a new one if it falls apart.

Boat supports
Today I finished supports for the boat. Now they are ready for the boat wich is transferred tomorrow. I designed these support commercial steel ones in mind. These dont have adjustments for the side poles, but they should be quite good fit as they are made just for this boat. I will see it tomorrow how snug they are.

Whole saturday went moving all sorts of boat equipment to the garage. I also started doing those support for the boat and I have to get back to the garage and finish them tomorrow (today to be accurate, its so late already). There is two pictures attached for todays post. First shows how much there is loose stuff coming with the boat. There is not all. Rest of the stuff will be moved with the boat on monday. Second picture shows the garage which is intended for the boat. Boat itself will fit in just fine. My only concern is the height of the door opening. I hope that there is enough space for truck crane to lift the boat in.
There is lots of clutter in the garage at the moment. but I'll be cleaning it up during the project. I have to go sleep so I wont go into details about this garage any further. I will tell the history of the garage in upcoming posts. I already did that in Finnish for moottorivene.info where this project can be followed in Finnish language.

Here it goes..
Welcome,
This blog is about my boat project which I bought recently. I'm about to describe all refurbishing I'm going to do for the boat. I have all winter to get it done. Plans are to get it in the water next summer. This same content can be found in finnish from Moottorivene.info forums at: http://www.moottorivene.info/keskustelu/projektit/seiskari-s23a-projekti-t5603/0/
This boat model is Finnish made Seiskari which is 23 feet long and weights about 1500kg. It comes with Bukh 36hv marine diesel engine. It will probably reach almost 10 knots speed with that engine. Fuel consumption should be quite reasonable somewhere around 3 to 4 l/h at cruise speed which is nice considering diesel price at the moment.
There can't be found that much information about Seiskari from the internet. Company was established in 1979 and they have been publishing new bodels till recent years 2010 and -11. So at the moment I don't have much to say about this boat company. If you know something about the company and how much they have been producing during the years etc. it would be interesting to know.
This is my first blog. There are several motives for me to make this. I found other peoples project blogs and sites extremly helpful and interesting whenever I'm about to do some own projects. I would always like to find more detailed project diaries than I ever actually find on the web. So now I want to do my part and try to do as informative, helpful and inspiring blog as I can. Second motive is to document this project for my own use. It would be nice to remember all of this after many years. Also if I share this with others I will feel more obliged to do frequent and decent updates. Of course if anybody have thoughts or hints about about this project feel free to share. It would be appriciated. :)
